The ARC-Animal Production seeks to appoint a highly skilled, experienced, and dynamic persons to the following positions at Roodeplaat, Pretoria:
Job Description
  • Initiates, manages and contributes towards national/ international projects
  • Actively sources new national/ international research opportunities and write research proposals.
  • Plans and coordinates research with single or multi-disciplinary team
  • Conducts independent and advanced research.
  • Compiles detailed reports and approves final reports.
  • Manages data capture and shows advanced analysis, interpretation and recommendations
  • Publishes semi-scientific and peer reviewed articles, and publishes in journals with a high impact factor.
  • Builds and maintains international and national relationships and networking opportunities.
  • Supervise or co-supervise PhD and MSc students with an emphasis on critical and scarce skills.
  • Comply to all occupational health and safety regulations
Job Requirements
  • PhD degree in Agronomy or Pasture Science
  • Practical experience and technical knowledge of appropriate research projects, financial and human resource management
  • Verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in management of large data sets
  • Experience in technology transfer through popular and peer-reviewed articles, conference presentations and demonstrations
  • Practical experience in working with and doing research on cover crops and planted pastures
  • A proven track record of supervising postgraduate students (MSc and PhD students)
  • 5 years relevant experience or post PhD
  • Minimum of 12 peer-reviewed papers at the date of appointment
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
